🚌❤️💙 OUR EVERYDAY HEROES: THANK YOU, SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS!

As National School Bus Safety Week comes to a close, the Tishomingo County School District would like to recognize the dedicated individuals who help ensure our students travel safely to and from school each day.

Our school bus drivers do much more than transport students. They greet familiar faces each morning, navigate changing road conditions, maintain safe environments aboard their buses, and take on the tremendous responsibility of caring for the students entrusted to them.

Their dedication, patience, and commitment to student safety make a difference in the lives of our students and families every single day.

We also want to recognize the transportation director, mechanics, substitute drivers, and support personnel who work behind the scenes to keep our buses operating safely and efficiently.

❤️ To our entire transportation team: THANK YOU!

Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for everything you do for the students of Tishomingo County.

💙 Parents, students, and community members: Help us celebrate our transportation team! Leave a comment below to thank a school bus driver or share a positive experience.

Thank you Bus Drivers
🚌🚨 BE PREPARED. STAY CALM. STAY SAFE.

It's Day 4 of National School Bus Safety Week!

While school buses are among the safest ways for students to travel, knowing what to do in an emergency is an important part of keeping everyone safe.

Our school bus drivers are trained to respond to emergencies, but students also have an important role to play.

🚦 Five Important Emergency Safety Reminders:

👂 Listen to Your Driver. Follow instructions immediately and remain calm. Your bus driver will determine the safest course of action.

🚪 Know Your Emergency Exits. Be familiar with the emergency exits on your school bus and follow your driver's instructions about when and how to use them.

🚶 Exit Safely When Instructed. If an evacuation is necessary, follow the driver's directions and avoid pushing or rushing. When evacuating through the rear emergency exit, older students may be asked to assist younger students as they exit the bus, under the driver's supervision and according to established safety procedures.

📍 Move to a Safe Location. After exiting, follow instructions to move away from the bus and remain in a designated safe area.

🤝 Stay Together. Remain with your group and follow instructions until help arrives or you are told what to do next.

❤️💙 Preparation Makes a Difference!

We encourage parents and guardians to discuss the importance of staying calm, listening carefully, and following instructions during an emergency.

Every student plays a role in school bus safety. By listening, preparing, and looking out for one another, we can help ensure everyone gets home safely.

Be Prepared. Stay Calm. Stay Safe.

🚌❤️💙 SAFE RIDES START WITH SAFE CHOICES!

It's Day 3 of National School Bus Safety Week!

Every school day, thousands of students across Mississippi rely on school buses to travel safely to and from school. While our bus drivers work hard to protect their passengers, students also play an important role in keeping everyone safe.

🚦 Here are five important reminders for students riding the bus:

🪑 Stay seated. Remain in your assigned seat, facing forward, until the bus reaches your stop and the driver indicates it is safe to exit.

🗣️ Use appropriate voices. Avoid shouting, loud noises, or unnecessary distractions that could interfere with the driver's concentration.

🎒 Keep aisles clear. Store backpacks and personal belongings securely and never block aisles or emergency exits.

🤝 Respect others. Keep your hands, feet, and belongings to yourself, and treat fellow passengers with kindness and respect.

👂 Listen to your driver. Follow all instructions promptly. Your bus driver's priority is getting everyone to their destination safely.

❤️💙 A safe bus ride is a team effort!

Parents and guardians, we encourage you to discuss these expectations with your children and remind them that their choices can make a difference in the safety of everyone on board.

🚌⚠️ KNOW THE DANGER ZONES: STAY SAFE AROUND THE BUS!

As we continue National School Bus Safety Week, the Tishomingo County School District wants to remind students and families about the importance of staying safe when boarding and exiting a school bus.

Did you know that school bus drivers cannot always see students who are standing too close to the bus?

These areas are known as danger zones, and understanding them can help prevent serious accidents.

🚸 Important Safety Reminders:

🚌 Keep a safe distance. Stay at least 10 feet away from the bus whenever possible, unless you are boarding or exiting under the driver's direction.

👀 Make sure the driver can see you. Never assume the driver knows where you are standing.

✋ Wait for the driver's signal. Never approach or cross in front of the bus until the driver indicates it is safe.

🚶 Never walk behind a school bus. Always follow the designated crossing procedures.

🎒 Keep belongings secure. If you drop something near the bus, never attempt to retrieve it without first notifying the driver and receiving instructions.

❤️💙 School bus safety begins before students ever step onto the bus.

Parents and guardians, please take a few moments to review these important safety reminders with your children.

🚌🛑 NATHAN'S LAW: KNOW THE LAW. PROTECT OUR STUDENTS.

As we begin National School Bus Safety Week, the Tishomingo County School District wants to remind our community about the importance of following Mississippi's school bus safety laws.

Mississippi's Nathan's Law was enacted to strengthen protections for students following the tragic death of Nathan Key, a Mississippi student who was struck by a motorist while exiting his school bus.

🚦 What should Mississippi motorists know?

🛑 STOP for school buses. When a school bus displays flashing red lights or an extended stop arm, motorists must stop as required by Mississippi law.

🚗 Keep your distance. Motorists required to stop must remain at least 10 feet away from the school bus.

🛣️ Know the roadway rules. Mississippi law provides an exception for traffic traveling in the opposite direction on certain divided highways with four or more lanes. Drivers should understand the requirements before encountering a stopped school bus.

⚖️ Violations have serious consequences. Illegally passing a stopped school bus can result in substantial fines, possible imprisonment, and additional penalties for repeat offenses.

❤️💙 No destination is more important than a child's safety.

Every driver has a responsibility to protect our students. When you encounter a stopped school bus, remember that a few moments of patience can help prevent a lifetime of heartbreak.

🚌🛑 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY: THEIR SAFETY IS IN YOUR HANDS! Every school day, our students are counting on us to help keep them safe as they travel to and from school. The Tishomingo County School District would like to remind all motorists of the importance of staying alert and practicing safe driving habits around school buses and school zones. 🚦 A Few Important Reminders: 🚌 Watch for school buses. Be especially cautious during morning pickup and afternoon drop-off times. 🛑 Respect the stop arm. When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, motorists must stop as required by law. 🚸 Slow down in school zones. Follow posted speed limits and remain alert for students crossing streets or entering roadways. 📵 Eliminate distractions. Keep your attention on the road, especially when children are nearby. ⏰ Be patient. A few extra moments of caution can make all the difference in keeping our students safe. ❤️💙 Every student deserves to arrive at school and return home safely. We ask everyone in our community to do their part by staying alert, following traffic laws, and putting student safety first.💚💛 A Moment of Patience. A Lifetime of Difference.
